I’ve always loved a good cupcake, but I haven’t always loved running.  I’ve been accused of being crazy because I love distance running, because I love hills, because I love running in the cold.  The list is endless.  In the words of my chiropractor, “My freakish obsession with running is legendary in my small town” #compliments

I’m a married mom of 3 who developed a love of running a little over 4 years ago.  I wanted to get fit and lose some weight before I turned 40.  I started with a C25k app and can still remember how exhausted I was after those first short 30-minute workouts.  In just a little over 3 years, I went from being a couch potato to being a marathoner!

I have a tendency to over-train, which has left me dealing with ITB injury more times that I would like to admit.  The last (hopefully) one was during marathon training 2014, which left me sidelined for 2 months.  I now have Crazy Jen locked up and the key has been disposed of, but I know she could make a reappearance at any moment.  It’s a constant battle for me to do my strength and cross training, proper stretching and foam rolling and – the HARDEST – workouts that make me stronger instead of injured.

This blog chronicles my struggle journey to be the best runner that I can be, with sprinkles of my life outside of running.

    My name is Amy and I am in the middle of my C25K program right now. It is very motivational to know that you started in a similar place and now run marathons. That is my long term goal. It seems a little far fetched to me now, as I am in the exhausted after 30 minutes place, but you and your story are motivating me to keep pushing.

    • Thank you!! Keep at it! When I started 4 years ago, I would collapse on the couch after those first workouts and would be so tired I could do nothing the rest of the evening. You will get stronger!!
